Mamoud Balla Kamara

Founder and Executive Director

Mamoud Balla Kamara born and raised in Northern Sierra Leone, Dembelia Sinkunia Chiefdom. He graduated from Njala University with BSc. (Hons.) Environmental Management and Quality Control (EMQC).Coming from a community where development is still hard to reach is a very big challenge to change the narratives.

This has motivated him to work in collaboration as youth to build sustainable communities through empowering the minds of community youth so they can take up responsibilities in finding solutions to their community problems. Today Mamoud needs the attention and support of everyone into YoMSuD-SL so we can do it all together. Sustainable communities and transformation of youth, women, disables, children and the underprivileged are just some of the things he stands for.

Mariama Bintu Sesay

Co-Founder and Executive Deputy Director

Mariama Bintu Sesay was born and raised in Sierra Leone.

She is the Co-Founder and General Manager of Youth Movement for Sustainable Development Sierra Leone (YoMSuD-SL).

She graduated from Njala University with a BSc. (Hons.) in Environmental Management and Quality Control (EMQC).She believes in action and result-orientated moves. Mariama wants to see every youth, especially rural youth have got a hope. A hope that could make them be more productive in societies. Mariama believes that what a man can do a woman can do better.

So we are all in this together. As 70% of YoMSuD-SL leadership is made of females, we shall succeed in raising the flag of hope for the youth, children, women, disabled, weaker communities, and the underprivileged. She strongly believes that YoMSuD-SL needs support from women equally or even more than the men.

Dr. Abubakarr Mansaray

Chairman, Board of Directors

Abubakar Mansaray (PhD) was born and raised in Sierra Leone and is currently staying in the USA. He is the current Board of Directors’ Chairman of the Youth Movement for Sustainable Development, Sierra Leone (YoMSuD-SL). From the onset, Mansaray has been involved in many youth programs and is now Chairman chairman of YoMSuD-SL. He wants to work with YoMSuD-SL to help accomplish in their mission and vision. This has lead him be supportive to many youth development programs because he believed when we have sustainable communities youth of those communities would be proud to stay and give back. This is hope for the future leaders.

Esther Magundia Jinnah Sesay

Board Member: Youth Movement for Sustainable Development Sierra Leone (YoMSuD-SL)

She is passionate in helping young people to achieve their dreams. As a Board member she has immensely contributed to YoMSuD-SL growth by providing some office equipment, her time and more resources. Her goal is to see that rural youth have got hope and have been able to create personal growth and transform their communities for a better future through YoMSuD-SL. Her role in YoMSuD-SL in ensuring that feminism, Gender Based Violence, Equality and Equity, Adolescent Sexuality Right and Heaths (ASRH), Women empowerment are amicably and excellently treated is unquestionable. She wants to see women fill in leadership gaps in their societies. It should not only be men. That is what she stands for.

Sheku Gbetuwa

Technical Advisor, Board of Directors

Sheku Gbetuwa was born and raised in Sierra Leone. He studied both his MSC. And BSC. Development Studies at Njala University and high school at Christ the King College (CKC) Bo. He is currently the Head of Monitoring and Evaluation at Agency for Integrated Development Sierra Leone (AID-SL) and a Board Member Youth Movement for Sustainable Development Sierra Leone (YoMSuD-SL).Sheku is one of the youth who has gone through what other youth are going through right now because of this he has his dream set towards supporting underprivileged  youth. He is fully committed to supporting youth in every forms that is development orient

Bashiru Turay

Technical Partner and Consultant in Research, Business Development and Partnerships

Bashiru Turay is a Sierra Leonean geographer, trainer, and researcher with interests in global change and resilience, youths in development, climate and society, disaster management, and sustainability. He has published several scientific studies in those interests and is advancing knowledge and providing directions for sustainable solutions to contemporary local, regional, and global concerns.

In Bashiru’s ideal world, young people would be engaged learners, contributors to advancements, and role models for the next generation, inspiring them to follow suit and establishing a systematic and sustainable cycle of education, empowerment, and prosperity.

BOD-Marcia Teperman

Marcia Teperman

Position: Board Member

Marcia Teperman is a strategic life coach and agent of social change. She is passionate about empowering people to achieve their full potential regardless of their background and experiences in life.

She has diverse professional and personal background, having lived in three different countries and worked in five different sectors, including not-for-profit and government agencies with customer facing, service development, and community engagement roles.

Originally from Brazil, Marcia lives in Australia with her two sons, and provides leadership mentoring to community leaders, helping them position their value-driven organizations in the global stage, with a solid and progressive community engagement strategy aimed at building capability within communities.

Marcia is a trauma survivor, and the author of the book Roads to Recovery: a journey of physical and emotional healing, and her mission is to heal and uplift communities by empowering women to exercise choice and increase influence at work and in their relationships.

Munica Green

Board Member

Munica is compassionate about quality improvement in healthcare and health equity.

She is an author and motivational speaker who believes the way in which we work enables us to build long-lasting relationships.

Working with a strong commitment to family unity and community loyalty has always been Munica’s focus. She has worked in the medical industry for over 25 years, specializing in revenue cycle management and integrating measures into existing commonly used processes and platforms to support dissemination and learning.

Munica has dedicated her career & amp; personal life to improving health, well-being and equity through the development of thriving people, organizations and communities.

 

Musa Foday Mansaray

Project Officer

Musa is a passion-driven Youth that believes in bringing development to rural communities, helping the marginalized, the discriminated and the vulnerable

With his BSc. (Hons) in Agricultural Economics from Njala University, he has been working with YoMSuD-SL in designing and implementing an important project ‘empowerment of smallholder women farmers using organic farming to enhance improved food, nutrition and income security at both community and household levels in Sierra Leone’.  

This project’s goal is to foster food security and farmers’ participation in environmental conservation, Climate Change Solutions, Natural Resources Management (NRM) and protection for sustainable production during our lifetime and for future generations.

He is a dedicated team member in bringing development to rural communities by promoting the agricultural sector within the scope of YoMSuD-SL in line with the UNSDG goals 1,2,5,8 & 13

 

Adama Sellu Monica

Public Health Promotion Manager

Monica is an expert in Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR), Infection Prevention Control (IPC) and Mental health counsellor.

The impacts of the previous pandemics in Sierra Leone urged Monica to pursue BSc.(Hons.) in Public Health to prepare herself to be on the frontline of solving health issues in the country, especially in promoting adolescents’ mental and emotional health.

Her dream to impact more young people made her join the YoMSuD-SL team to engage more young people and bring more Youth on deck in delivering quality healthcare services to the nation as health is wealth.

Monica’s goal is to see that health services are accessible, affordable and available to everyone at all times everywhere especially for marginalized people.

She has been working with different institutions, organizations and communities gaining a wealth of experience in the health sector before joining YoMSuD-SL, and she is moved with a highly positive spirit to bring gender equality in healthcare delivery services through YoMSuD-SL.She loves helping and supporting young people.

Adama Susan Kamara

Admin Officer

Adama Susan is a focus-driven young girl ready to do the things that could build the Africa she wants.

Her educational journey at the Institute of Public Administration and Management (IPAM-University of Sierra Leone) with a BSc. (Hons.) in Business Administration has enabled her to be making strict, firm, accurate and effective financial guides and management within the organization.

Her goal is to ensure that the organization never standstill because of mismanagement and lack of funds. She is passionate about promoting the organization’s financial status using her experience from the different institutions, organizations and communities she has served before joining YoMSuD-SL.

 

Annet Aminata Koedoyoma

Community Engagement Manager

Annet A. Koedoyoma has a wealth of experience with an MSc. and BSc.(Hons.) in Environmental Management and Quality Control (EMQC).

Her love for nature has made Annet an amazing Climate Change Chief Ambassador at YoMSuD-SL.Her goal is to see young people and women are in the centre of decision-making, especially those who bear the worst impacts of the global climate crisis. Fostering the ability of communities to the adverse impacts of climate change, enhancing a climate-resilient economy and reaching the net zero target greenhouse emission target by 2050.

She believes that Climate change is everybody’s concern.

She has been working with different institutions, and organizations and now serving humanity through YoMSuD-SL with her experience from Environmental Protection Agency Sierra Leone (EPA-SL)

 

Ramatu Fofonah

Education Support Officer

Ramatu Fofanah is an experienced Education Specialist from Njala University.

She has been working in different organizations as a volunteer in different fields.

Her passion is to see that young people especially adolescent girls, teenage mothers and Out-Of-School children access quality education without interruption.

She works with YoMSuD-SL in designing education programs for young people in YoMSuD-SL as part of its Girls Empowerment and Uninterrupted Quality Education programs.

 

Mamawa Sesay

Peer-To-Peer Educator

Mamawa has a BSc. (Hons).in Environmental Management and Quality Control (EMQC) from Njala University.

She has been working with different institutions such as Assistant Safety Officer – Miro Forestry, Sierra Leone. Administrative Assistant – African Consulting Group, Sierra Leone. Quality Laboratory Assistant – Njala University, Mokonde, Sierra Leone with Professional Experience/Expertise: Fire Fighting, and Incident Investigation.

Her commitment in joining YoMSuD-SL is to create Social impact, which includes humanitarian values, advocacy, and activism towards policy changes. Promoting social justice and challenging systemic issues for individuals, especially girls, who are passionate about raising awareness of teenage pregnancy and early child marriage, personal growth, philanthropy, and giving back.
